How to: Make a coke bomb at home


You can easily make one of these with a few readily available everyday items. You are going to need:

• 1 Hammer or another object which can perform a similar task
• 1 of those big bottles of DIET coke - Diet coke is crucial
• 1 mentos lolly
• A string of thread
• 1 needle
• And finally an unsuspecting victim

Simple take a needle with a thread through it and use your hammer to hit the needle through the centre of the mentos and out the other side. You may now remove the needle so you are left with a mentos hanging off the thread.

Next open the bottle of coke and push the mentos through the opening of the bottle but keep holding on to the thread making sure the mentos doesn't touch the coke - don't lower the mentos too much we want it just about where the bottle neck is so that when you put the cap back on, you won't be able to see the mentos. After screwing the cap back on the bottle the thread should be firmly in place leaving the mentos hanging just under the cap so it is hidden from sight.

Finally cut off the thread left hanging from the cap on the outside of the bottle so that the next person who opens the bottle won't be able to see the thread or the mentos.

Now the next time that the cap is unscrewed and loosened, the weight of the mentos will pull the string in to the bottle and the mentos will fall in to the coke and cause all the coke, which reacts with the mentos, so foam up very rapidly and shoot out the top of the bottle!
